PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
 In addition to being a professional sculptor for over 35 years, Mason has been a professor of sculpture in MFA graduate programs at several major universities, including SUNY-Stony Brook, Tulane, the University of New Mexico, and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She has been a visiting artist at Kyoto University of the Arts, Osaka Art University in Japan, and Mushashino Arts University, Japan; University of California, Davis; Syracuse University, University of Wisconsin, Madison; Montclair State College, NJ; University of California, Chico; Oakland College, CA; Ohio State University; Mississippi State University, Starkville; University of Iowa School of Art; and the Cedar Rapids, Iowa Ceramics Center. Ms. Mason is expert in a wide range of sculptural materials and technologies and has been a professional welder for over 35 years.

 FELLOWSHIPS, GRANTS, AWARDS (Examples: Mason has received over 45 such awards.): 
Fulbright Senior Research Professorship to Japan. To study the sculptural aspect of form, space, and materials in the “controlled nature” of Japanese garden design over centuries, centered in Kyoto.
Soros Foundation Fellowship, New York, NY. To create 9’ x 6’ x 6’ public sculpture in stone for the Villany International Sculpture Symposium and Sculpture Park, Hungary.
Fellowship to Forma Viva International Sculpture Symposium and Sculpture Park in Slovenia to create two permanent sculptures (18’ x 4’ x 4’ apiece) in oak for this international sculpture Park.
Edna St. Vincent Millay Colony for the Arts Fellowship, Austerlitz, NY to create sculptural glass, wood, and metal “books.”
